Chapel Press is committed to producing print using recycled paper, or paper supplied from sustainable forests, where possible. We are currently going through accreditation to become members of the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes), which we should have in place in 2009. We have also committed to reducing our carbon footprint, at the same time as addressing environmental issues. By recently investing £2 million in the very latest, state-of-the-art printing equipment that has been specifically designed to reduce waste, use less power, and use only vegetable based inks. We operate a press system called Axis Control, which constantly monitors quality and accuracy on the press whilst a print job is running. This ensures quality issues and subsequent re-prints or waste paper is reduced completely. We also recycle all waste material from paper, chemicals and printing plates. Our goal is to continue to maintain the highest printing standards as we evaluate and adopt practices that allow our company to meet its environmental mission of avoiding the waste of our earth’s resources. |
